Basic Tenets

This page details the basic tenets I try to use when forming an opinion.  The list here is a living list that will be changed and refined as I work to develop my process.

This list is not in any particular order.

  • Begin with the data
  • Study the data to form an opinion
  • Don’t cherry pick the data
  • Don’t be afraid to change your opinion when new data is presented
  • Don’t make a change and expect to reach ideal conditions
    • Expect to iterate to reach the solution
  • Don’t be afraid of the ideas of others
  • Recognize and challenge your own biases
  • It is acceptable to place differing values on data, but it must be explicit
