This page details the basic tenets I try to use when forming an opinion. The list here is a living list that will be changed and refined as I work to develop my process.
This list is not in any particular order.
- Begin with the data
- Study the data to form an opinion
- Don’t cherry pick the data
- Don’t be afraid to change your opinion when new data is presented
- Don’t make a change and expect to reach ideal conditions
- Expect to iterate to reach the solution
- Don’t be afraid of the ideas of others
- Recognize and challenge your own biases
- It is acceptable to place differing values on data, but it must be explicit
